37 weeks today - that means baby is technically full term now! That is just amazing to me! Yesterday I had another weekly appointment. Found out I am already 1 & 1/2 cm dilated and 60% effaced. But still -3 station (meaning baby's head is not engaged in the pelvis yet). I know none of that really means much - I could still walk around like this for weeks with no change. But, at least all these Braxton-Hicks contractions I have been having are actually doing something! The doctor jokingly said, "I'm on call tomorrow - you want to have your baby then?" I had to laugh, I still feel like I have much to do before baby gets here! It almost still feels like a dream - I'm not sure I'll believe it until baby is in my arms. Turns out my doctor is going on a ski trip next week. So I made a deal with him - I won't go into labor until he gets back as long as he doesn't break any bones during his vacation!
I found a website where I could host a "baby pool" - everyone can guess what the baby's gender, birthday, weight and length will be. Once baby gets here, the site will calculate a winner based on the closest guess. Since pretty much everything is a surprise with this baby, I am really entertained by everyone's guesses so far!
As of now, boy guesses are leading 16-13.
Birthday guesses are ranging from February 20th (too soon Kelly!!) all the way to March 11th (Cheryl - do you really want me to be miserable for that much longer??). But it looks like March 5th is the popular date so far with 5 out of 29 guesses, that is my suspicion too!
Rachel is thinking I'll have a small baby - 6 lbs 6 oz (sounds good to me!) but Betsy apparently wants to hurt me during labor with an 8 lb 11oz baby (ouch!)
Only time will tell! If you still want to put in your guess, follow the link below.
Dear Andrea, If only all babies where as anticapated and loved as yours will be. The best to you all. Love, Aunt Joan
